1982 Nissan Patrol MQ 2.8L petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A great 4WD, legendary

Faults:

Rusted muffler that was replaced.

Rusted support beam on the chassis that will be replaced.

General Comments:

It's a short wheel base and maneuvers like a dream.

A real go anywhere car, better than some modern Land-cruisers I use & definitely more fun.

Intend to use this car to travel Australia in & am very confident in its ability to do so.

I think that is good.

1982 Nissan Patrol MQ 3.3 diesel from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Unstoppable

Faults:

Sleight over heating in the summer months. Muffler replaced with a 3 inch system. All other aspects are excellent.

General Comments:

It is a Nissan Patrol Hardtop model (Short Wheel Base).

My Patrol has a 3 inch body-lift, 2.5 inch suspension lift.

I am running 31 inch Mickey Thompson's Baja Belted which are an excellent tire.

I own the 1982 model Patrol L28 petrol motor. I have done a full rebuild on both engine and transmission... reliability is unbelievable as we used to own the Ford Explorer. The Ford Explorer was costing me more to keep on the road than a shooting rig (LOL)... So we sold it and bought the Nissan Patrol and haven't looked back. She may be slow, but the tortoise always wins the race; slow but sure. The bloody thing goes anywhere...

After I put a set of headers on it and a 3 inch exhaust, it has been cheaper to run than the Ford Explorer... No regrets on buying the Nissan; still have nightmares knowing that we spent so much money on a FORD...
