2007 Toyota Corolla CE 1.8 from North America

Summary:

One of the best cars I've ever owned. Reliable, safe, and a gas sipper!

Faults:

Nothing major has gone wrong with my Corolla. It is the epitome of dependability.

General Comments:

I love my Corolla. Cheap to maintain, just keep its oil changes up and service the brakes. Here in the Northeast, I go through struts and front-end components more often than say someone likely would down south or out in the midwest. But the car still starts, runs, and drives every single day. I use it to commute for work, I use it to explore aimlessly, I use it on long trips. There's some things to be aware of when purchasing a used Corolla, but overall I'd say it's in my top 3 most reliable cars I've ever owned.

Now currently at a smidge over 216k, original engine and transmission. Tire wear is minimal, oil and coolant consumption on mine luckily is very minimal without any excessive use. The engine runs as smooth as Day 1. It does occasionally make the VVT-i rattle sound upon warm start. It sometimes has a longer crank time when warm as well (there has been TSB's on this and many comments of other owners on solutions--do a Google search and ye shall find). No check-engine lights in the 17k or so I've driven the car.

I have owned it for almost one full year and do a LOT of driving. This car has seen some miles and still is as faithful as the day I bought it for short money. Buy a Corolla of any generation if you can! You probably won't regret it.

This is the kind vehicle Toyota built their reputation on - good stuff :)

2007 Toyota Corolla LE from North America

Summary:

The most reliable, efficient, and comfortable car I’ve owned so far

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car; the only things I’ve had to change so far were the tires and battery. Maintenance has been incredibly cheap as well as being easy to work on.

General Comments:

It will get you from A to B reliably. No matter what, this machine will never let you down. If you treat it well, it will treat you even better. I’ve got nothing but love for it and Toyota. I will not be surprised if it outlives me if I’m being honest.

2007 Toyota Corolla Ascent 1.8 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A piece of $20 000 plastic - yet reliable

Faults:

Every nook and cranny rattles, I cannot emphasise this enough. I have gotten to the point where I am used to it.

Factory stereo head unit died, had to buy an aftermarket one (which works better).

Suspension creeks in cold weather.

General Comments:

Apart from the above MINOR issues, I have had absolutely no trouble with this car, and it's quite the looker too.

I am absolutely amazed by the fuel economy I get; 7 litres per 100km.

A previous review stated "refrigerator on wheels", which is very suited. The handling is absolute rubbish, and there's more plastic holding the car together than you can poke a stick at!

2007 Toyota Corolla CE 4 cylinder gas from North America

Summary:

Reliable, basic, efficient, car

Faults:

Gravel roads are pitting the paint job, and I've noticed if I drive over 45 MPH on gravel it tends to slide. The manual seat belts are annoying as I'm used to automatic ones.

General Comments:

I just retired an '89 Camry with 215 thousand miles on it, no air, and no muffler any more, so the Corolla is luxurious in comparison.

It's not a luxury car, however, just inexpensive, reliable 'plain-jane' transportation. So far I absolutely love it!

I had a trusted mechanic go over it before I bought it, and he could find absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I plan to drive this car until it drops (like the Camry, which technically has not 'dropped' as it still runs fine, just looks like heck).
