Taken January 2005 from Toronto, ON (Lester B. Pearson International Airport) - YYZ to Vancouver, BC (Vancouver International Airport) - YVR

Today has turned out to be an absolute fiasco. I have flown with Jetsgo twice in the past and the service was never really that great - in fact, they were usually quite rude, but I always managed to get my flights for really cheap on crazy seat sales. Today, I show up at the airport, and Jetsgo has "ceased operations" overnight. No notice, no warning, and with a statement saying that they are really sorry it had to happen, but everyone will have to fend for themselves. No representatives at the airport, no call centre to call in, nobody to contact at all. What a low-brow, cowardly and dastardly thing to do. Instead, they are giving the telephone number to all of the transport ministries in respective provinces. They are taking no ownership of the issue at all. They have even left their employees high and dry. Just goes to show you how much they really care.

Fortunately, I was able to book a ticket with WestJet, and for a price that was even cheaper than my real fare with Jetsgo (round trip) because they are stepping up and helping out. This may not seem like a big deal too many of you out there because they are getting more business, but they are offering reduced fares for Jetsgo passengers and standby fares for Jetsgo employees. That is class - Air Canada was offering nothing except inflated, last-minute fares.

It says in the statement that Jetsgo is seeking bankruptcy protection - a little late, I think. Should they ever go back into business, they will never see my business again. Obviously they were selling their fares below cost and could not afford to keep operations running. But the top reason they have lost my future business is the way they dealt with this situation. Instead of facing the music, they went into hiding and left it for everybody else to sort out. Cowardly and pathetic - this kind of business doesn't deserve the revenue that I or other passengers can provide.
