The outward flight Stansted to Palma was fine and landed on time despite taking off a bit late. However on our return Palma - Stansted the plane was a little late arriving from the previous flight. They called us for boarding and there was a mad scrum even though they called boarding nos. 1 - 30, those with children and any with mobility problems (which included me as I am recovering from a broken ankle). We waited for 15 minutes or so and were then told to go and sit down as ther plane had a 'technical problem'. The staff at the gate did not seem to know anything and over 2 hours later we were called for boarding once again having received no updates during that period. We eventually took off 2 1/2 hours late - the problem was explained to us by the captain - apparently some oil was spotted under the plane and of course they had to check the engines - after testing they decided that the oil must have come from a previous plane. I have no problems with the safety issues it just would be nice if some info was passed to those waiting at the gate. Apart from the shambles of boarding (why don't they allocate seats) the flight was very comfortable and food on board very good. We would probably give them another go as the prices if booked early are very reasonable. | ||
