Taken April 2005 from London, England (Gatwick Airport) - LGW to Goa - GOI

We booked this 10 flight to Goa with First Choice airways due to the offer of PREMIUM SEATS being available, prior to the date of travel I had spoke with F C Airways about the size of the separate cabin to establish how many seats they normally have in the premium section, I was advised absolute maximum of 63 people would be in the premium cabin. (The reason for this enquiry was due to me booking late and was afraid we may be split up on the flight). Whilst having the conversation I was informed that due to the fleet being refurbished there was a good chance we would be on one of the newly refurbished flights as they were using these for the Goa trips in April. When we arrived at LGW we were informed at check in that we would not be travelling on a FC flight and would be using a DUTCH CARRIBEAN aircraft, however we were assured that the premuim cabin was just as good. When we got on the aircraft we walked through 3 rows of FIRST CLASS SEATS to what they called the PREMIUM CABIN!!! This section seated 90 people?? very interesting.. Apart from the seats being narrowed and not much leg room the Service was not ideal as they now had more people to look after, no choice of menu, wine arrived 15 minutes after the meal, the cabin was dirty and the pillows had been used by previous flyers. We asked if we could pay extra to use the First class cabin, but was refused, however the cabin crew sat there throughout part of the flight to watch the movies!! the final straw was to find out that many people had been upgraded free of charge. Surely FC knew that one of their aircraft was not going to be available and should have given us the option of cancelling our holiday with them. I don't like to travel anywhere over 6 hours in economy and would not have booked the flight if I had known the situation. Incidentally on returning from my holiday I wrote to Hayes and Jarvis (Part of the First choice group) as to date have still not had any acknowledge regarding my complaint. I am beginning to ask myself do they know the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE - I think not, I am obsolutely appalled at the way we have mis treated and ignored about this complaint, due to this I would never book an holiday that uses First Choice Airways.
