Home > Air Atlanta Europe > ReviewTaken August 2004 from Sanford, FL (Central Florida Regional Airport) - SFB to London, England (Gatwick Airport) - LGWI am a bit late writing this review, but oh well, we had all enjoyed are holiday in florida and were coming home on friday the 13th! we didn't think we would actully have bad luck we had heard that hurricane charlie was on its way, but wouldn't affect orlando even though we were in naples were it did hit bad, we had to go the very long way to orlando it took bout 6 hours as some roads were closed. We got to sanford in the pouring rain and thunder, it was ovious the hurricane was on its way, it was a shambles dropping off our car we didn't no what to do with it!! eventually we got through to the airport which was very busy we were told by a stupid woman who thought tcy 125 which was our flight number, was a thomas cook flight so she told us to go to terminal b, when we got there there was the thomas cook flight to gatwick and glasgow so we had to go back to terminal a were we were no right at the back of the travel city direct quew. After a very long wait to check in we were eventually checked in by a very rude and miserble american girl. After we went through to departure lounge, when I looked out the window I could just bout see a thomas cook a330 which was just infront of the windows as the weather was so awful, I hadnt seen rain like it, it was like fog. I went and got some after shave and a magazine and some sweets and went back to our friends. I walked up to the viewing point and the weather had got even worce, a first choise and brittania 767's had just taken off (very dodgy) and a thomas cook a330 was just attempting to, it had to divert to orlando as it was so bad up there. Shortly after a tanoi announcement said all further flights were cancelled as it was now a state of emergency so we had to stay at the airport, we were givin some fod vouchers, soon after the lights went out and we had to move from the windows as they were flexing (yes solid galass flexing!!) and all the seals had broke and water was coming in. we couldnt do a lot we just sat around for 28hours!!! borin I got a 1hour sleep in all that time, in the night we just walked around looking at the tericble storm outside, at 7 I woke from my hours sleep and it was chaous no one new what was going on there was shoputing and swearing, we then had to all go outside and go back through check in as snaford forgot the numbers of people were there as all the electricty went out. That was terrible, we went back in the airport sat around for about 4hours than finally boarded the 747 travel city direct plane at gate 6 (i think?) we sat down, it was abit old inside, whilts on the ground another storm csame and our plane was struck by lightning whilst taking off!!! no damage done, a very turbulent take off we got going I fell asleep for 40mins and woke up not noing were the hell I was which was kind of scary, the food came we were right at the back og=f the aircraft and all what was left was sausage and mash, the flight was smooth we watched mean girls and the day after tommorow, and the office, friends and music videos. we were mostly in dark through the 8hour flight, towards the end we were served tea or coffe and a aplle turnover which was nice, landing at gatwick was very smooth, we finally departed and was in england I had never been so happy to be home. Thanks travel city you were o.k!!! due to the sercumstances. | ||
