We arrived at Bristol Airport at 5.40am on a Tuesday in July for our 7.10am departure to Glasgow. There were seven dedicated desks available for all the easyJet flights departing from Bristol between about 6.30 and 7.30 (eight in total). Well over a hundred people were waiting ahead of us in the various easyJet check-in queues, but it only took about fifteen minutes to check in.

The terminal was completed five years ago for an intended maximum of 3.5 million passengers a year, but that total is now 5 million with the busiest time being the early morning with around thirty flights taking off between 6am and 9am. Despite this the departure areas did not seem unpleasantly overcrowded.

Our flight took off twenty minutes after the advertised time, and on a hot and clear day we enjoyed marvellous views of mid Wales, Merseyside, the Fylde Peninsula and the Lake District. Arrival at Glasgow was five minutes late at 8.30am.

We returned the same evening and flew just off the coast for the first part of the journey giving impressive views of the Lake District and Blackpool from seaward. We landed at Bristol at 9.50pm, twenty minutes early, after a flight of fifty-five minutes.

The flights were on Boeing 737-700 aircraft, both of which appeared clean and were comfortable. The cabin staff were efficient with the return flight senior crew member being particularly helpful and communicative. Onboard snacks were reasonably priced. We had adequate route descriptions (although of course this is very subjective) from both captains prior to departure and a very brief en-route report both ways. The outbound aircraft was around 90% full with the return slightly less heavily loaded.

A return fare of £35.98, including taxes and charges, is excellent value.
