Taken April 2005 from New York, NY (John F. Kennedy International Airport) - JFK to Bombay (Sahar (Santa Cruz) International Airport) - BOM

Reading all the negative reviews, I was skeptical of flying Air India. I was surprised by the wonderful way Air India treats its passengers. There was a long queue at the check-in counter at JFK. The staff was polite and prompt. I was surprised to see another security check just for Air India passangers before boarding, which shows that the airline puts security first. Warm welcome aboard and passengers were served welcome drink which was orange juice, even before departure. Most airlines don't serve this and make you wait until the flight takes off. Liquor service is available and crew is happy to serve more drinks on request. Meal service was awesome and suited for a Maharajah. Staff was courteous and attentive. In flight entertainment was not up to the mark and needs modernization. Baggage handling was slightly slow at Mumbai and none of the bags were damaged. What alarms me the most is that most people who have written bad reviews have flown Air India more than once, which doesn't make any sense to me. Given a wide choice of Airlines flying into Mumbai, I guess a wise person will choose another airline if not satisfied by the last one flown.
