Here is a note on problems with Vegetarian meals and internal communication with LAN Chile. LAN Chile is pushing the limits of passenger service versus profit to the limits. The staff is overall very pleasant and do what they can to help. But it would appear that they do not have adequate support themselves whether it be on purpose or planned that way. For each time I fly with LAN I have problems with the vegetarian meals I ordered. On the ground they advise that the vegetarian food has been requested and is in the system. However once in the air they claim that I am not on the list. Any efforts by me to explain that I ordered it, I checked to ensure the order was taken and rechecked are taken with suspicion and disbelief. Actually they do all, but call me a liar. You are mistaken sir. Next time order the meal prior to traveling. My explanations become repetitive, "I did order the meal prior to traveling", their replies equally repetitive, "you need to order the meal prior to traveling". I have rise in blood pressure and they go about their task of serving the other passengers. Since this has happened on numerous occasions I have requested proof from the airline that the order for vegetarian has been taken. However equally frustratingly I am informed, "no sir we do not give written proof of vegetarian meal requests, but rest assured the order has been taken and you will receive your meal". Rest assured indeed. Today on ordering the meal I was informed that the whole problem with vegetarian meals is to be sorted out, after November of 2005 they will no longer serve special meals to anyone! My question was can I get a discount since I will not be eating your food on the flight. Sorry sir I will have to ask my supervisor and at present she is busy. Well enough of the vegetarian food scandal. When I have more time I will post a note on the excess baggage and seat reservation problems. I would stress that on many occasions the staff are as frustrated as I am. It would appear that management has not installed adequate procedures for dealing with these things. |
