Taken September 2005 from Manchester, England (Ringway International Airport) - MAN to Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands - PMI

MYT 191 = Manchester (MAN) - Palma (PMI)

Air Italy = B757-200 (I-AIGA)

28 Sept 05.

OK, where to start?

We checked in at Manchester International Airport to see a little letter saying there was a problem with some of MyTravel's fleet and today's flight MYT 191 to Palma would be operated by Air Italy. I've see a few picture's of Air Italy's plane's (only have 2 for now), and I was like, wow a new airline, thinking everything on board would be clean, good looking, good staff.

The flight time was (1:50). Got to the airport very early knowing my football team was at home (Man Utd). We thought we would go ahead of the fans and just get to the airport. Got there three hours before departure, checked in nice and easy (always first class with My Travel Airways).

Everything was checked in and we went through to the departure lounge, and because it was so packed out, they opened the fast lane (just as I got there), so we went through and waited 20 minutes.

My nephew is an attention seeker, so he can't sit still for no longer than 20 minutes (only on planes). We we went for a walk. We walked to the windows to see this nice Air Italy plane nicely going past the windows. I was like, wow, nice plane, B757-200. I was a little sad because I've been on the 757-200's 4 time's and I'm getting sick of going on Boeings. I just wish that the charter people would just send me somewhere on an Airbus sometimes. I've been on the b757,300 (TCX) B757-200 (3 time's MYT & Air Italy) B767,300 (MYT) DC-10-30 (Boeing MYT).

We got asked to goto this gate which was miles away, but I needed the walk anyway. We got to the gate to see I-AIGA. It looked like Air France just gave them a B757-200 and they put green on the tail, and they put on "it's nice to fly with friends again".

We board about 1:30, got aboard, and it looked ugly - everything was old, it was like they didn't change anything from taking it from it was being stored. They just put Air Italy on the head rest of the seat's.

Legroom was nice, not good, but nice. It wasn't as bad as MyTravel's B757-200 (going home), but MyTravel's dc-10-30 was much better.

We started push back at 2pm, which means it was late getting off. We got into the air at about 2.10pm. Takeoff in my eyes took longer than normal B757s I've been on.

When we got to 32,000 feet, I started feeling very ill. Eating a Burger King in the airport was a bad idea. I pressed the button to ask for a glass of water. I waited 5 minutes, nothing, so I pressed it again. I saw this Air Italy woman poke her head around the curtain at the back and just see it was me, and she just went back behind the curtain so my mom had to go and ask for a glass of water. They told her to buy it from the two MyTravel people onboard. My mom was like, no, they're at the front, we need some now, they finally give her some.

A women behind me pressed the button 17 times before they came to her, and then when they did, the two MyTravel crew were just one seat in front of me saying "wow, they came from the back of the plane". I know you're saying, why would you say Air Italy was rubbish if they ignore you? This wasn't the baddest part. The safety thing at the start was in italian. I didn't understand one thing and nearly everyone had walkmans on, so no one was listening. The pilot was discussing our journey in italian. Everyone was like "what?".

Now back to the trip. Dinner comes in this nice little thing (good idea MyTravel), they put bags in this little thing so when you've got rubbish, you can just pop it in there.

We started our descent into Palma Airport and I kept thinking, wow, we're still going mega fast. The screen said about 200, normally we do it at 120 - 150 (somewhere around there). We had a nice easy landing, but it was going that fast they had to reverse thrust and brake very hard. It made everyone move forward, it was going that fast.

So I say Air Italy are rubbish, they don't care about anyone or anyone on their planes, and with this attitude, they will go bankrupt just like the last owner of their B757-200 (Dutchbird).
