Taken October 2005 from Leeds/Bradford - LBA to Tenerife, Canary Islands - TCI

Booked day before to travel to Tenerife South, considering the late booking I thought the fare was quite good in relation to others I had seen available from other airports. Arrived at 11:50 and collected tickets from the Thomson desk opposite check-in, which appeared to be an annexe to the airport.

Collected some food from Greggs the bakers as no meals could be pre booked so late and waited up in the gate area for boarding which commenced at 14:15. Crew were cheerful when welcoming onboard and the aircraft was fitted out with new navy blue leather seating. the back of each seat had a plastic fascia with a seat pocket at eye level. It was very uncomfortable for me, there was no where for my kneees to go so I more or less sat sideways in the seat or with one knee out in the aisle while the other took up some of the room of the kind lady next to me.

Nice take-off and very prompt service with drinks whilst we watched the movie - Mr and Mrs Smith and paid 3.00 for headsets. Offered a meal by the crew, but had by then eaten what I had brought. The scottish purser on this flight seemed to run a good crew though there was nothing outstanding/different about them, I would say that they worked hard though. Tax free goods were sold which were good value and I would have bought some if I had the money.

Made approach into Reina Sofia airport from the north and then round the west coast with views of Los gigantes and Las americas on the left and the peak of La Gomera on the right. Nice smooth landing and a friendly welcome PA, however all I wanted was to escape that seat.

I understand that Britannia will be no more from the end of October and will be known as Thomsonfly as that is what I have classed this flight under, the crew though made PA's saying Britannia one moment and Thomsonfly the next - shame.
