Taken December 2005 from Newark, NJ (Newark International Airport) - EWR to Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion) - TLV

It was my first time on El Al. Both Continental and El Al flew the route, and I would have picked CO because I am very familiar with their Business First product, but someone else paid for the trip and handled the reservations. (I could also have used the CO FF miles)

Flew a 777 with 2-3-2 seating in Business Class. Airline had one row of first class with 2-2-2 seating, but when I asked how much an upgrade from biz class would cost, I was told $2,300.

Seats were tight with limited pitch and recline for business class, but still worth flying again. There are two cabins for biz class divided by the galley. The best seats are on the right side just behind the galley -- they are near the exit. PLENTY of leg room!

On some of their jumbos they offer high speed internet.

Food was better than most, with three choices for dinner and breakfast. FAs were friendly and helpful. I was fortunate enough to be able to sleep much more than usual so I don't know what kind of additional service is available other than the meals.

As expected, security was exceptional. One note for US readers, in Israel you are not asked to take off your shoes during the process! Check in does take a while, because they are very thorough.
