Taken 2 February 2006 from London, England (Gatwick Airport) - LGW to Barcelona (Aeropuerto Transoceanico de Barcelona) - BCN

The last time I few BA was a few years ago, I expected like most other airlines that service has been downgraded in recent times, yet this is how my experience went.

Gatwick has its own dedicated BA terminal (North terminal where all BA flight leave from) This however meant that the queue for check in was massive, as you had to check in with other European flights. After 30 minutes we got to the counter where we where greeted by a professional, sincere lady. We asked for exit row seat and were given them no problem and we didn’t have to pay extra like some other airlines.

Boarding was okay, but I think BA should call passengers forward by their seat numbers as it seems that everyone got up at the same time and headed to the gate.

We got on board the old tired looking Boeing 737-400, yet the leather seats throughout the cabin made it feel a little more welcoming. The cabin was freezing and as soon as we took are seats at the over wing exits, we were told by a crew member to keep our coats on or they had to be placed in the overhead lockers for safety reasons. The safety demonstration was done manually and professionally.

BA gives out the food first and then the drinks, I would prefer if I had a drink first. The food needs vast improving. It contained, a box, which included a hot pizza slice and another box that contained, a small tub of water, a muffin, and a fruit cocktail. The drinks then followed and only came around once. During the flight I asked for another drink, it felt like too much effort for the crew. The toilets on out flight were just about clean, but I never seen the crew clean them. Duty free was then brought through the cabin without the pressure to buy goods like that on Easy jet. We then landed on time in Barcelona.

Overall it was a smooth hassle free flight at a brilliant price, £87 return, yet the food and the service from some of the crew needs to be improved, but I would fly BA over any other airlines that does this route.
