Taken 22 April 2006 from Amsterdam (Schiphol) - AMS to Cape Town (D.F. Malan) - CPT

Flight KL597 from Amsterdam to Cape Town.

This has to be one of the better klm flights that I have been on. This was a day flight leaving Amsterdam at 9.20 am, flying over north Africa and then down the west coast Africa and arrivng at Cape Town at 9 pm.

On check in we managed to get the extra leg room seats. These are in row 31, the best seats in economy class.

The plane was a clean and tidy Boeing 777. Take off was on time with regular updates from the cockpit. The cabin crew were great, well above the norm. They seemed to be happy in their job. We would often chat and share a laugh with them. The food was above average for economy class. At the back of the plane there was a tray left out where you could help yourself to drinks and chocolate.

The entertainment system was good. More than enough games, tv, music and movies to keep you amused for this long flight. It was interesting to now that klm have 9 seats abreast in economy class. I was on am Emirates flight two weeks ago from Dubai to Heathrow using a Boeing 777 and they had 10 seats abreast.

The flight landed on time. As klm were the only international airline at the airport clearing customs and immigration was very quick.
