Taken 13 April 2006 from London, England (Gatwick Airport) - LGW to Trivandrum (International) - TRV
Flight FCA086 to Trivandrum. Left Gatwick North about 30 minutes late, but due to a 110mph tail wind the flight was only 9.30 hours. Seated in star class Premium. On boarding the aircraft we were served with fruit and sparkling wine. After take off we were presented with menus. Usual choice, chicken or beef. Drinks were served before the meal, but when I requested peanuts, I was told that I would have to pay 70p for a packet. And this after paying £239.00 extra over the holiday price for an upgrade!! The trays came out of the armrests and were very wobbly. Meals had to be eaten with one hand whilst holding the tray steady with the other. The food accompanying the main course was very good, lovely chocolate orange pudding, but the main course was usual charter fodder. 3 hours out from destination we were given a snack box containing chiabiata sandwich, onion quiche scone and cream and biscuits. Then the toilets ceased working. All of them. This also happened on the return journey and is caused by passengers putting paper towels down the pan. Why not take out the paper towels? Is this a regular thing? Overall the service from the cabin crew was minimal - passengers had to keep asking for drinks, etc. Nothing was offered although the upgrade price included all the extras. There was no flight information from the deck. Landing into Trivandrum was long and slow. And then there was the 2 hour wait at immigration. I suppose we got where we wanted to be, but I would not fly long haul on a charter again. |
