Taken 23 June 2006 from Praha (Prague) (Ruzyne) - PRG to New York, NY (John F. Kennedy International Airport) - JFK

We flew Business from NYC to Barcelona (Delta) thence to Prague (Czech) and return to Kennedy (Czech), on an Airbus 313 jumbo. Note that Czech only has coach and business, no first class. We paid for our ticket using the Amex 2 for 1 program, which was priced gross at over` $16,000, so that the 2:1 cost was over $8,000, which when converted to Amex miles (points) was over 800,000 points (1 cent credit per Amex dollar spent)!!! In other words, whether I had spent cash or Amex points, this was an extremely expensive trip.

This was perhaps the worst Business class trip my wife and I have ever taken (a trip from JFK to Mexico City and thence to Lima Peru on Air Mexico, billed as "first class", might have been worse)

We asked the age of the plane, we were told 13 years. We were unfortunately assigned the bulkhead. The storage compartments attached to the bulkhead were tiny and jammed with Czech material, allowing for no passenger storage. Of course, there was no seat in front of us to store hand luggage underneath etc, so for take/off and landing, we needed to move the luggage to the overhead compartment (the flight attendant was nice enough to deal with this). The seats were abysmally uncomfortable especially when reclined, requiring use of multiple blankets and pillows to deal with the seat creases and bumps. There were no eye shades on board (this was a 9 hour flight!). The food was plentiful, but poor. Service was however attentive. Our flight on Czech from Barcelona-Prague on a 737 had been fine.
