Taken September 2004 from London, England (Gatwick Airport) - LGW to Kavalla (Kavala) - KVA

We flew from London Gatwick to Kavala on our way to Thassos as part of a charter flight with Kosmar. We have always travelled with Kosmar and in the past have travelled with airlines such as JMC (now Thomas Cook), Thomas Cook Airlines and Excel and have been very happy with the service, but Astraeus is not a patch on the above companies. We started the day at Gatwick North, queuing behind a very small checking desk (2 checking personnel maximum) and the queue because of its size was horrendous. After finally booking in and a normal waiting time, we were transported to the aircraft (737) which was parked on the other side of the airfield. Upon boarding we found ourselves sitting in very uncomfortable seats, with hardly any information from the flight deck about the journey absolutely and no entertainment for the 3½ hour flight. Being that I am slightly nervous about flying there was nothing to occupy me. We flew over the Alps and usually expect the comment from the flight deck about Mont Blanc - but nothing. I was pleased when we landed in Kavala.

The return flight was exactly the same, except the 3 cabin crew personnel spend most of the flight in the flight deck talking to the pilots. Really not impressed!
