I think this airline deserves more positive comments. They do need to change the outdated entertainment system and they are doing this already. The outbound flight had a new interior with personal screens in the economy class. The return flight had the old system indeed, but one should notice that the change for the better is ongoing.

Apart from that the service is excellent compared to many more famous airlines. The food is generous and is served according to the local time, i.e. afternoon departure and afternoon arrival means that you get two full lunches not the sorry sandwich that you get for snack as a second meal at other companies. The meal choice is also interesting. If you do not want meat then there are very good Indian vegetarian dishes unlike the eternal pasta that you get usually. Yes the food is Indian with its specific taste and smell, yes the movies and the music is 50% Indian as well and yes the women flight attendants are dressed in traditional Indian clothing and greet you at the boarding gate with a smile and a bow. This is an airline that caters to the citizen of India and that is something cool for passengers from other countries as well. After all if you cross the Ocean might as well enjoy something else than burgers and soda.

Also the comments that the plane is not clean or safe are simply not true. For one thing, I had worse experiences in the plane toiletes of other companies. And secondly, the interior design tells nothing about the age and the maintenance record of the plane. People think that if the plane has a new paint then it is new and safe, but fortunately the safety of the flight stays in the skill of the pilot and in the really important parts of the navigation components and the engine something that a passenger cannot verify anyway.

I would fly Air India anytime!
