Taken 12 June 2006 from Manchester, England (Ringway International Airport) - MAN to Dalaman - DLM

I flew both ways on the Manchester-Dalaman route. The flight out (12 June) was delayed by over five hours and the compensation for this was a five pound voucher to be exchanged at only some of the food outlets at the airport. In flight service by the cabin crew was good, but could hardly compensate for the disruption, especially as arriving in Turkey late in the evening had knock-on effects for our journey to our accommodation there. Apologies were limited to formalities and there was no personal service service in this respect. Information throughout was limited.

On the return flight (19 June, FJE 861) there was again a delay, this time of of 130 minutes. This was shorter, but the facilities at Dalaman airport were so unsatisfactory that the problems were if anything worse. The airport was absolutely packed with travellers, Information was minimal and again there were no staff available to help or explain. The flight itself was transferred to another company and the on board service was less than good. There was no compensation and we arrived finally in Manchester late in the evening, again creating knock-on problems.

My main objections are not only to the delays themselves, but to the failure to provide satisfactory information for passengers, and to the absence of any real customer care in terms of refreshments etc. during the long airport delays.
