Home > Emirates > 2001 > ReviewTaken January 2001 from Melbourne to Singapore - Colombo - Dubi - LondonConsidering this was a seriously long haul flight (around 35-40 hours in total) Emirates did there best to make all the sectors as pleasant as possibel. From Melbourne to Singpaore we were upgraded to Business class which was outstanding, one of the best! This made a nice end to the 5 hour delay we had at Melbourne while our 777-200 had a wing slat changed. Then from Singapore via Colombo to Dubi we were back in Economy, which obviously after the delights of EK's Business class was not all that great, and the so called lumber suport dug into my back all the way. Service was pretty good though. Then from Dubi, after spending a few ungodly hours in that awful airport we boarded a brand new 777-300. This aircraft is huge, very comfortable and quiet. We were upgraded again, but this time we were straight to to seats 1A & 1B of First Class. This was a great experience and made the 7 odd hour flight that bit more enjoyable. I think it helps to get upgraded by dressing nicely and being nice to the ground staff and cabin crew. I also had an Advantge Gold Card, which although useless on Emirates did impress the checkin agent at Melbourne and was one of the leading factors to my upgrade. I would recomend Emirates to anyone, as they have great aircraft (777-200/300, A330, A310) although it would be nice to get a few 747-400's! And great service. They are now my number 2 airline just sneaking in behind Cathay Pacific for the ultimate in air travel. | ||
