Taken 11 July 2006 from Burbank, CA (Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport) - BUR to Oakland, CA (Metropolitan Oakland International Airport) - OAK
Now whenever I talk bout low-cost airlines being rubbish I can do so with some authority. So to get back from Burbank to Oakland (about an hours flight) I got an airline flight (Southwest Airlines) which is America's dominant low-cost airline. And now I've experienced one I have even more reason to avoid them in the future. Southwest are in many senses better than UK/European low-cost airlines in that you can check in on-line, use a self-service check in machine and you get a free drink and bag of peanuts on board. Even if there were only 12 in the bag (yes, I counted). Even with those 'benefits' it was a pretty unpleasant experience. Plus the lack of seat assignments means there's a grand scramble for boarding. Seating was acceptable - more legroom that easyJet/Ryanair, but less than BA short haul. Leather too, which is nice, even though it was a little worn. Boeing 737-700/300 fleet. |
