Taken 27 July 2006 from New York, NY (John F. Kennedy International Airport) - JFK to Beijing (Peking) - BJS

I recently flew Air China and was quite nervous prior to flying with them because of reviews I had read about them online. Honestly, I thought their service was okay. It was nothing over the top... but the crew was helpful and the flight was comfortable. The biggest problem I had was on my flight over there were not airsickness bags in the pouch on the seat in front of me and because of the language barrier it was difficult to get them, but I did end up getting quite a few in the end. Also, I did find the domestic flight a little less comfortable simply because of the seats and amount of leg room. I think some of the reason Air China receives so many poor reviews is because it is largely an airline used by non-Westerners. Yes, there were a lot of Asian people on the plane (its impossible to know if they were all Chinese) and things are kind of done according to Chinese customs. If you think that you are going to have an issue with that maybe you should not fly with Air China, but if you feel like you can handle that than the prices are good and the service is adequate.
