Taken 28 April 2006 from London, England (Heathrow Airport) - LHR to Los Angeles, CA (Los Angeles International Airport) - LAX

I previously flew with Air New Zealand a couple of times and had great flights and entertainment and also enjoyed their class leading seat pitch in economy. In 2000 American Airlines followed by removing seats in economy and declaring "more room in coach" with the same 34" seat pitch. At this point the cost entered the equation and AA were quite a bit cheaper than ANZ. I took several flights on AA, but as a direct result of the downturn in air travel after 9/11 they decided to replace the seats they removed for revenue reasons and so became the same as any other Transatlantic carrier, except ANZ. This year I paid a few extra pounds and once again flew ANZ. The newly re-fitted cabins are excellent and the IFE is great with a pause facility whilst watching a film if you need to use the bathroom. Food and service was very good and it was nice not to have to pay for an alcoholic drink, something that most American carriers have started to do in economy. The seats are made of a memory foam material and mould to your shape. All in all a great flight and I'll be using ANZ each time for my trips to L.A.
