Taken 4 November 2006 from Darwin, Northern Territory (International) - DRW to Cairns, Queensland (International) - CNS

Booked a flight online on the virgin blue website, the airfare was not the cheapest from Darwin to Carins (Plus it was an indirect flight via Brisbane), but the flight times suited me.

Flight was leaving at 1.40am, so arrived at the airport about 11.30pm. There was a large que at the Virgin Blue Check in desks. Check in was slow as this is a 1 am departure a lot of people had booked the wrong day, and as there was no ticket desk it slowed the entire check in. Once I got to check in agent was friendly and issued my boarding cards (which on Virgin blue is like a shopping receipt with a bar code on it). But on the plus side Virgin Blue to give seat allocation.

Darwin at 1am is a busy airport, so it was crowded. Boarding was quick and easy as the agent just scans the bar code on your boarding pass.

Crew welcomed us on board as did the captain once everyone was seated. Seats where all leather and leather head rest, leg room was ample and not to cramped. Take off was on time.

As this was a night flight the crew did a snack service just after take off and then turned off the lights, which allowed people to get sleep. Unlike other airlines they don't try constantly selling, so that was welcome as the cabin was nice and quite.

Landing in Brisbane was smooth and on time. Connecting then in Brisbane was easy as the airport is well laid out and there was over an hour connecting time, enough time to enjoy a breakfast in the airport. Then back to the baording gate for my next flight to Carins.

As I had booked it all as one trip, I got my boarding pass for the Carins flight in Darwin. Agin boarding was quick and easy and I took my seat towards the front of the aircraft. Again this was an aisle seat.

Captain and crew welcomed us on board, and take off was on time. Crew then started the sale snack service, I purchased a tea and muffin, which was not overpriced.

Flight was smooth and comfortable and the free inflight magazine was intresting. Crew were very out going chatting and joking with passengers (Including two jokes as we taxied to the gate in Carins). The crew also congratulated a couple celebrating there 10th Anniversary over the intercom.

Landed on time, again very smooth and had my bag with in 20 minutes after landing.

Overall Virgin Blue are a top class low fares airlines. There crew are very curtious, friendly and outgoing, service and pricing of the on board shop is good and seats where comfortable. Plus on bonus was not the constant selling on the night flight, over all great airline.
