Taken 2006 from Manchester, England (Ringway International Airport) - MAN to Alicante - ALC

I fly with monarch scheduled on a regular basis (and am a member of their vantage club). I have flown with them 7 times since November 2005 and although there has been a few hiccups they have been brilliant most of the time. I had used them before nov.2005 on the same flight and one from Luton however was not impressed with these (around 2000/2001).

In November 2005 I flew there and back in seat 1A and the plane was an airbus A320. Though small the plane was light and comfortable and the extra legroom seats were very nice. I was impressed with the meals and on board shop, but prices were somewhat over the odds. The return flight was good until we were 30 minutes out of Manchester, when we were told that the runway was snowed in. We landed in Liverpool and were stood on the tarmac for almost 2 hours before taking back off for Manchester and were offered a free glass f water in compensation.

I took the same 2 flights with the same seats in the easter holidays of 2006 with no problems. We also used priority check-in at Alicante which was a god send compared to waiting in mile long queues outside the building. the flights were ontime and the Airbus A321s were also clean and comfortable.

In august the flights were similar though we opted not to sit in extra legroom seats and the change of flight code outbound from ZB596 to ZB676 was somewhat confusing considering there was no change in the time f the flight. the plane on the way out was a Boeing 757 and although quite comfortable and roomy was very dark and dingy. The inbound flight was coniderably better on an Airbus A320 that was more light and airy.

Our outbound flight with monarch in october 2006 (inbound we flew BMI baby) was on a Boeing 757 once again. the plane was dark and dingy and some parts were in bad condition. the seats were comfortable and the flight ended with a spectacularly smooth landing.

Although Monarch Scheduled are quite overpriced (compared to other airlines, not with regard to comfort, quality and service etc.) they will remain a firm favourite airline to myself and my family!!!
