Man-Ord return Prem Economy. Where on earth do I start with this terrible airline. It began with the booking, telephones answered now in India who simply had no idea what they were talking about. They attempted to charge me £1,000 too much for the ticket. This was only put right by going to Man airport who fixed the problem India created. 8 weeks later still awaiting a manger to ring me up from the call centre. Check in OK and fast. On board, outward service really was awful. Our stewardess was the chief stewardess. Never smiled, served everything in a rush then disappeared for 5 hours. Call buttons were ignored. Seats were narrow and uncomfortable. Food exactly the same as economy. No extras such as ice cream or sweets offered during flight. Films were on a continuous loop system. Many TV's did not work. No attempt to put them right. Really was appalling for Prem Economy. I had to change the date on my return. Prem Economy according to web site was flexible. I attempted to change the return date via India call centre. They were rude and on 4 different occasions refused to alter date. I was 8 hours from Chicago, but their solution was to go to Chicago, as they were not allowed to change date. Again, I was promised a manger would return my call. 4 weeks later still waiting for this. I called Man Airport customer desk for BMI and they changed it no problem. Unbelievable. Return Flight was the last straw. I lost my allotted seat as they had oversold Economy, so upgraded a whole load of economy passengers to Prem Econ. They then proceeded to cancel my allotted seat in favour of a non-paying Economy passenger. I asked for an upgrade to THE BUSINESS, at ORD they refused to upgrade me. I had paid a small fortune for this ticket yet the arrogant BMI bumped me from my seat and refused to restore the seat. I complained on the plane and was told by every member of staff that they fully understood the situation, but as they were not trusted by BMI, they had no power to resolve the situation by upgrading me. I heard nothing, but tales of unhappiness pointing to the CEO of BMI as the big problem within BMI and every staff member I talked to were leaving BMI and going to over airlines. In short, the CEO seems to have disempowered all staff and it shows in their customer service. In short, Prem Economy is NOT WORTH the money. Seat the is same as in Economy. Food terrible and no real breakfast. Staff fed up and it shows. For £900, BMI gives its Prem Economy nothing that could not be got in Economy and a bulkhead seat. In short, if BMI were the only airline to fly to USA, I would prefer to swim. Luckily, BMI is not the only airline to the USA, and I will never fly them again. The CEO of BMI has cut standards across Europe, now he is reducing the quality of the transatlantic service. Once great with 12 staff per AB330 now 9 staff do the same job, cutting the quality of service and it really does show.
