Taken 5 December 2006 from Glasgow, Scotland (Abbotsichn) - GLA to London (Stansted) - STN
Flew out from Glasgow in what felt like a hurricane- winds up to 80mph when I left. Some anxiety to see landing aircraft doing go-arounds and diverting when they couldnt land in the wind. The aircraft landed 10 minutes late then slight problem with docking because the pilot couldnt see the mirrored guide to gate system due to the driving rain. A tug was called to guide it in before the passengers were allowed off. Quick turnaround and passengers boarded as a free for all. Boeing 737-700 at least 3/4 full. German announcements repeated in English. Pilot warned us of bad weather advising us the take off was "going to be fun". The aircraft held at the end of the runway- and with full thrust realeased and hurtled down the runway against the wind. A bit bumpy on way up then fine. Aircraft spotless and new. Inflight entertainment on drop down monitors and free light meal and drink. Landing at Stansted a little prolongued and I almost missed my connecting bus. Otherwise experience was most favourable. |
