Taken 22 December 2006 from New York, NY (John F. Kennedy International Airport) - JFK to Bermuda (Kindley Field) - BDA

The outbound flight boarded on time, but was then delayed 40 minutes as there was too much luggage. Little did we know JetBlue were off loading luggage. The flight was fine, the service, since there is really no service advertised lived up to its reputation.

When we landed over 10% of the people on the flight did not have their luggage - including one of our three cases. While the JetBlue representative was very pleasant, there was little he could do except tell us to check tomorrow. This left my wife without a suitcase, no no clothes, makeup - nothing - nada - zilch. The jetBlue representative said we would get $30 a day reimbursement; I do not expect to see it. Over the last few days, JetBlue had some much luggage go missing, they did not have any forms left for us to fill out.

The next day, the incoming flight was late and calls to the local representative were non committal. Before they could deal with my lost luggage, they had to get the flight back to Kennedy.

Calls to JetBlue's 1-800 number were fruitless, they did not and do not care. After hanging on the phone for 20 minutes I finally got a JetBlue person at their luggage section who said they do not track luggage, so did not know where it was. When I said "so someone could have stolen it" they said yes. Quite what the point of having tacking information on a suitcase when an airline does not track is beyond me. Eventually they put me through to someone who can help. Turned out the person could not help at all so JetBlue put me through to a private residence in Bermuda!

Eventually I went to the airport, tracked down the JetBlue office and went through all the luggage, and found my wife's suitcase. It was just as well I did, as someone else who luggage was also lost from our flight did not get their luggage until 10.30 that same evening.

When we checked in at Kennedy, our luggage was left in the middle of the check in area, unguarded. Anyone could have out anything into our luggage and we would never know. If this is what passes as security, then I want none of it.

Needless to say, the return flight was also delayed, but this time they managed to deliver all of our luggage.

I had heard great things about JetBlue - frankly I was very disappointed. I did not expect a great deal as they are a low cost airline, and that is exactly what they delivered.

I do expect security, and this time it was not the TSA's fault. JetBlue simply left our luggage out where anyone could get to it, before delivering it to the TSA where I doubt anyone bothered to x-ray it.

If this is the best JetBlue can do, then I will return to American Airlines for future flights to Bermuda.
