Opted to fly JK to Jerez as opposed to taking the train to Sevilla (Iberia to SVQ being REALLY pricey) because the direct metro connection to Atocha is broken due to improvement works. Last minute one way ticket cost €73, same price as 2nd class highspeed train.

Online check-in did not work, but passengers with handluggage can check-in airside at Barajas, which was very helpful as I was connecting from AMS. Bussing to the MD-something was very efficient and the flight left about 10 minutes late and arrived on time.

But inside the plane, it was not a very good experience. The seat pitch has to be one of the worst I've ever experienced in years of flying and having tried over 30 airlines. I'm 176cm and my knees were touching the seat in front! Had it not been a rather empty flight (I had both A and C in a 2-3 configuration), I would have to try really hard to keep my sanity. Disembarkation was through the front door, and I caught a glimpse of business class (which seemed an interesting proposition as one can buy an upgrade at the time of ticket purhcase for €19 per segment). Surprise surprise, the pitch was as abysmal!

All three Spanish airlines now operate a buy on board concept, which I have no great problems with...but there was no trolley round to sell the things (the FA preferring to stay in the galley), and when I asked for a beer they realised they were out of stock.

To sum up, Spanair are now on my "avoid" list due to the pathetic seat pitch and the fact that the other aspects of the experience were mediocre at best. Air Europa are visibly better, and so are RENFE (unless you're going to an island!)
