Taken 10 December 2006 from Santiago de Chile (Aeropuerto Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez) - SCL to Buenos Aires (Aeropuerto Internacional Ezeiza/Ministro Pistarini) - EZE

Flight LA 441 operate by a Boeing 767-300.

Flight booked as part of a round the world ticket from and to Shannon, Ireland, for 29,000 miles only cost 2500 euros, so it was good value for money as I was able to Fly SNN- LHR- BKK / SIN – MEL / SYD-CHC/ AUK- PPT-ICT-SCL-EZE-LHR-SNN.

Check in for the flight was quick as there was no people ahead of me in the International queue, unlike the domestic one further down the terminal. Santiago is a fantastic airport, really new and really well laid out. The agent was able to allocate me an aisle seat in 28C as all the widow ones where taken.

40 minutes prior to boarding there was no aircraft at the gate, but then about 10 minutes later they began to tow one from a remote parking area to the pier. The cabin crew boarded once the plane arrived at the pier and then general boarding started, which was done by row numbers. Flight was being operated by a 767 as opposed to the Airbus 340.

Crew where friendly and well presented upon boarding, the seats on LAN are quite comfortable, but a bit short on legroom. Despite the plane being late at the gate, boarding was completed and push back was on time from the gate. The crew handed out a head set as each seat had an individual large TV screen on the back of the seat in front.

Soon after take off the captain spoke to us in both Spanish and English and advised there would be no in-flight service until we passed by the Andes, but the in-flight entertainment would be switched on, but the views of the Andes where much more impressive, especially as it was a clear day with blue skies. After Passing the Andes I turned on the TV and started a move, one of the best things about the LAN system is it is on demand, so you can start it and stop it when you want.

A small snack was served with drinks which consisted of a big half sandwich, with a bar service. Watched a bit of Mission Impossible 3, but as they flight was only 1 hour 30 minutes, the crew were soon collecting headsets as were landing in Buenos Aries.

Landing was smooth and soon arrived in EZE at the same time as the Malaysia Airlines from South Africa, so the Immigration hall took over an hour to clear. My bag was waiting for me on the baggage belt.

Overall LAN are a first rate airline, excellent crews, well presented staff and aircraft, excellent on demand entertainment even on a short flight, nice meal and landing and take off was on time. Overall a very good product.
