Taken June 2001 from Montreal to Vancouver

This was the worst flight I have ever experienced. It shows what results with a monopoly of the Canadian airline industry.

The flight out of Montreal was delayed 1 hour due to "late arrival of the plane" and the agents at the gate were rude and obnoxious. The pilot was also there and when I asked about the delay and disussed my concerns regarding my connecting flight, he responded with: "I don't care about the connecting flights. If the plane is late, it is late. There is nothing I can do and I don't really give a s*%t. All I am concerned about is flying the plane to Vancouver".

The flight was also over-booked and they were offering $100 cash or $300 off another flight for volunteers to give up their seats (no wonder the airline is losing money).

Once on board and after take-off, the nightmare got worse. The whole flight was bumpy with excessive turbulence to the point that people's drinks were spilling on their laps. The flight attendents did not even help these passengers who ended up going into the washrooms to clean up. It seems like the pilot purposely flew in the jet-stream the whole way just to annoy the passengers. Only once did the crew make an announcement apologizing for the rough ride.

The flight attendents were all fat, old and extremely rude (this is common to all AC flights though). They served dinner and we never saw them again until we landed and disembarked (a drink or two would have been nice given the 5 hour duration of the flight).

It was a night flight and we were not provided with pillows and could not get any because the crew were not available.

Also, Air Canada charges for alcoholic drinks, something that many European airlines like British Airways do not charge for.

Enough of my bantering, but I caution all future passengers planning to travel with this airline. Maybe a charter alternative like Canada 3000 or Air Transat may be a more prudent choice so long as you don't mind your chin on your knees. At least the other airlines have better looking flight attendents and they are pleasant.
