Taken 13 April 2007 from Amsterdam (Schiphol) - AMS to Duesseldorf (Dusseldorf) (Rhein-Ruhr) - DUS
Didn't expect much from small Fokker F50 operated flight from Amsterdam to Dusseldorf, but was pleasantly surprised. Boring wait at B pier in Amsterdam, brought by bus to the plane, very friendly stewardess greeting at the door. A German and American person making a fuss about sitting in each other's seat (confirming all existing prejudices that they really are ignorant and inpolite) and again pleasantly resolved by very friendly Dutch KLM stewardess. Verbal fight a source of both amusement and embarassment for other passengers, mostly Dutch, German and some British. Pitch and width very acceptable for a mere 40 minute flight. Aircraft looked clean and well maintained (these Fokker's are over 20 years old). Lots of vibrations during take off, but once in the air very comfortable and stable. Extremely polite and smiling stewardess handed out a small snack and orange juice. A short flight indeed, but I was so pleased with it that I seriously am considering KLM again for my longer distance flights. I do think they deserve a chance with reliable and extensive time table, the best transfer airport of the Western world (Schiphol Amsterdam) and down-to-earth and reliable Dutch personnel (they might not be the most friendly bunch, but can't fault them on reliableness). If only they would improve pitch on their long haul aircraft and do something about personal inflight entertainment. Oh well, I'm progressing. KLM City Hopper: will do for me. |
