Having previously flown with XL Airways, I was looking forward to flying with them again. But as soon as we arrived at check-in, we were told that we already had an hour delay. We were scheduled to take off at 8:00AM, but, finally took off at 10:20AM.

Once we boarded the plane G-VKNH (Boeing 767-300), I noticed that it was old and tatty, The seats were leather and had pen written all over them, the over head lockers had dirty hand prints all over them, and the seat pockets were full of old chewing gum. The legroom was very poor compared to their 737s and 757s, which I have previously flown on.

However the flight attendents were excellent; they were very attentive and had great customer service skills. Also another good point about XL was that you were able to choose from a menu instead of having a set in-flight meal, which usually isn't great.

XL need to get rid of their older planes as they are letting their good reputation down. And knowing that they are an excellent airline, I would fly with them again.

XL ended up changing our flights to My Travel Airways on the return flight; which I was very pleased about.
