Taken 16 August 2007 from Los Angeles, CA (Los Angeles International Airport) - LAX to Mauritius (Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam) - MRU

My wife and I decided to spend our 10-year anniversary in Mauritius, which is where we spent our honeymoon. 10 years ago we flew Lufthansa, but this time we got a better deal on Air Madagascar/Delta. We flew Delta to Paris CDG and then connected to Air Mad for the connection to Mauritius via Antananarivo.

CDG-TNR: Worn, but serviceable B767-300. Business class seats are of the "old" style, i.e. they don't recline fully and don't have footrests or individual monitors, but were nonetheless comfortable. The food and service were highly above average - Air Mad's flight attendants give new meaning to the term "warm and fuzzy!" We had a layover of 3.5 hours in TNR.

TNR-MRU: B737-300 showing its age. No food service on a 90 minute flight.

10 days later we returned MRU-TNR, this time on Air Mad's brand new ATR-72. Seats were comfortable, although the prop powered plane was noisy.

9 days after that, at the end of our 9-day package to Madagascar, we returned TNR-CDG on the B767-300 again. Again the service did not disappoint!

If you have a layover or a night to spend near TNR, stay at the crocodile farm lodge. Fascinating!
