Taken 28 September 2007 from Burbank, CA (Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport) - BUR to Tampa, FL (Tampa International Airport) - TPA
I redeemed 50,000 miles for a round trip, first class ticket from BUR to Tampa (via Phoenix) this past weekend. Flight 421 outbound from BUR to Phoenix was a disaster and this led me to miss my connection in Phoenix to Tampa. I had to wait 3.5 hours for the next flight, where I had to sit in the very last (non-reclining seat) row of the plane. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem, but for two factors: 1) I was flying out for a wedding and your incompetence caused me to miss my rehearsal and the majority of the rehearsal dinner, at which I was speaking, 2) the mistakes were totally preventable on US Airway's part and the result of negligence and poor operations. The cause of our delay was a broken overhead bin over row 5. We waited 41 minutes for a mechanic to board, only to duct tape the bin, rather than fix it. This plane had been sitting overnight and obviously should have been fixed the night before or the morning of. Second, none of the crew made any attempt in air to communicate gate information, which could have helped those of us running to the gate of our connections upon landing. Upon disembarking, I ran to the Tampa flight, only to find that the gate had been changed to another part of the airport. I believe those extra four minutes or so made the difference of me missing the connection. |
