Home > EVA Air > 2007 > ReviewTaken 20 October 2007 from ICN (Seoul-Incheon International Airport) to Bangkok International (Suvarnabhumi Airport) - BKKMy friend and I were very excited to go on a trip to Thailand, but the flights were really not good from the beginning to end. We were departing from Incheon International Airport and the flight was suppose to leave at 7:15 p.m., but the flight was delayed by 45 minutes until 8 p.m. This isn't so bad, since the delay wasn't too long. Yet, it seemed strange that the check in agent made a mistake at first. She thought that we were going to Taipei, Taiwan, even though the tickets clearly stated Bangkok. We had to tell her that Taiwan is just a layover, while we wait and change planes to go to Bangkok, Thailand. It felt like she didn't even care enough to check the e-ticket and her monitor screen. The seats are quite tight on the Airbus 330-200 from the flight to Taiwan. Also, the IFE is so slow and not a lot of choices. Yet, it was nice to see it was on demand. Also, I think that they waited too long to allow us to use the IFE. They wasted 20 minutes airborne before they booted up the system. I think, my friend and I needed those last 20 minutes to finish our movies. Plus, his broke down and had to wait 10 to 15 minutes before they would restart it for him, although they said they will do it right away. The food was okay and the portions were pretty generous. It was nice to see mooncakes and hot fresh bread. So, when we got to Taiwan, and while waiting for the next plane, they delayed the boarding two times. Yes, the delay wasn't too long, but having to go through that with already another delay from Korea was not so good, especially since having a really late night flight. On this, they use a combi 747, which had better legroom, but not as much width as the Airbus. Also, no IFE for this longer flight. Also, what is amazing is that they will use the plane to fly from BKK to AMS. I prefer the Airbus on this journey with EVA Air because of the IFE and Airbus is 2-4-2, not 3-4-3 like Boeing. I ended up switching my assigned seat from the aisle to the middle to sit next to who my friend who was sitting next to the window. We pre-selected these seats, and I think Eva should be more professional and courteous. Why stick someone in the middle seat, when there were other seats available, and they knew we were travelling together. What is also so bad is the flight attendant rolling her eyes at you when you corrected the drink order. She made a mistake on my friend's drink order and we corrected it in a nice manner, too, and she rolled her eyes. My first time on an Asian carrier. That made us very angry. Such terrible service. The pilot from TPE to BKK was also not good. He didn't park the plane correctly, so we wasted around 20 minutes for him to repark the plane. It gave us a very bad first impression of using EVA Air. I must say that we enjoy our Asiana flights a lot better. No wonder Asiana is a 5 star airline. It's even better on China Airlines and Thai Airways. They are good airlines, too. Even Korean Air is pretty good, too. I guess maybe the crew we had just weren't so good, and I meant the ground crew, cabin crew, and pilot (especially the TPE to BKK route). We hope the return flight will be better. | ||
