Home > Royal Jordanian > ReviewTaken 29 October 2007 from London, England (Heathrow Airport) - LHR to Amman (Queen Alia International) - AMMFlight RJ112 operated by an Airbus 321 Aircraft. The flight was booked well in advanced, but the taxes and charges made he flight expensive £417. After a short flight from Shannon in Ireland and a morning to walk around London, I was able to check in at Heathrow. I then proceeded to check in where the queue for security check was very long and it took over 50 minutes to clear the security checks. Once you are in Terminal 3 there is a large array of shops and places to eat, which really pass the time. Boarding commenced on time, upon entering the aircraft I was greeted by the cabin crew. First Impression was very good; the cabin was modern and very clean. I took my seat at 15J. The seat was comfortable and each seat has an AVOD system which was great. The flight took off on time and soon after take off the cabin crew handed out the headsets, and I was able to start the AVOD entertainment system which had a choice of up to date movies, older movies, television shows and a moving map. The screen was an okay size, but I had to use my jumper to support the ear phones connection as it only worked when pressure was put on it. The crew came around with a full bar service, including alcoholic drinks. The main meal was served about two hours into the flight which was a choice of chicken, beef or fish. I choose the chicken which was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it, tea and coffee was served later into the flight, however RJ only have powdered milk, which makes airline tea even worse. The trays were collected just after tea and coffee was served. The cabin crew made several passes throughout the flight collecting rubbishing, and selling duty free. They remained polite and courteous throughout the entire flight After watching two movies and reading a few articles in the in-flight magazine, the plane began to descend to Amman. The landing was a bit bumpy, but the plane soon arrived at it gate ahead of schedule. Overall my first impression of Royal Jordanian was very positive, a high standard of service, good quality meals and with an excellent in flight AVOD entertainment system. Flight RJ111 operated by an Airbus 321 aircraft The return leg of my flight back to Heathrow and then on to Shannon, after a fantastic holiday in Jordan. Security was strict on arrival in Amman, with a passport check before being allowed to enter the airport, a full baggage screening before entering the check in area. Once I reached the check in area, the queue moved very slowly, as there was a group 5 Italians checking in ahead of me. It took over 20 minutes to check in the group as the agent kept disappearing and the reappearing. Then when I arrived at the check in desk, the agent looked at my e-ticket and then disappeared again and then came back out again. The check in agent managed to check me in after disappearing the second time. Then another set of security checks to the boarding gate area with a fantastic duty free area. The flight was called on time, where I was greeted by an official who was checking were people were from and thanking them for visiting Jordan. The boarding was well organised by seat row number. The cabin crew greeted each person on boarding and directed them to their seat. I had managed to get a window seat again this time in 10A. Take off was a few minutes behind schedule, soon after take off the cabin crew handed out headsets and started the bar service. As I was now travelling in November there was a choice of different movies for the flight. However I had a similar problem with the headset not working and had to hold it in place to hear the movie, plus there was a buzzing noise on the system, which was annoying. The meal was served about two hours into the flight; there was a choice of three meals again. I opted for the chicken again; however it was not as nice as the chicken on the outbound flight, but still enjoyable. The flight landed on time in London. Overall impression of Royal Jordanian is a very good, both flights of high quality in terms of the meals, the crews and the service provided. The in-flight AVOD system is very good, but it is tiring holding the headset plug in place, the aircraft was new and the seats were comfortable. Two very good flights. | ||
