We had a nightmare experience on our return flight from Tel Aviv to Toronto, December 2007.

We don't have high expectations from El AL flight attendants - we never do. Beyond their initial "hello" you usually get nothing else from them. But on this flight, they managed to completely shock us. They took away all our basic comforts and needs, and then totally ignored us for the rest of the flight! Because some woman in front of us wasn't feeling so good, the flight attendants decided to blast ice cold freezing air onto our portion of the plane for most of the flight. We put on coats, sweaters, gloves, scarves, and 3 blankets, but it did not help. When we begged them to warm the cabin - they refused. I developed bronchitis and fever upon return to Toronto, and I hold them entirely responsible.

They also woke us about 10 times throughout the night because for some unknown reason a whole group of flight attendants needed to speak to the woman in front of us very loudly every few minutes, waking up everyone around her. Again, we begged them to speak lower. They completely ignored us. It was rather bizarre how non-existent they made us feel on this flight. We saw the so called "sick woman" putting on makeup and looking great, so it is beyond us to rationally explain what their obsession was with her and why they sacrificed everyone else's comfort. They had no compassion or regard for anyone else. We had never seen anything like it.

I've emailed a complaint to EL AL's customer service, but have received no reply as of yet. We're still in shock as to how we were treated, and I can't imagine ever booking another flight with EL AL.
