Taken 8 February 2008 from Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta International Airport) - CGK to Hong Kong, Chek Lap Kok - HKG2

Other than the inflexible booking system during the planning stage, this was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. SQ make lot of fanfare about their Business Class, and after this journey they are rightly justified in this as they are high above their competitor Cathay Pacific (on whom I made the outbound trip - see seperate review HKG-CGK, Feb 2008)

Even for the short CGK-SIN segment service was of a very high standard. Operated by a 777 I still had use of the excellent KRISWORLD entertainment system and a full lunch service. I stopped in Singapore for three days, something that the website is normally able to facilitate, but at the time of booking this was not possible. SQ might want to check this out as it wasted a trip into the city ticket office to resolve this.

The highlight was the SIN-HKG sector (which operates out of the spanking new, but peaceful T3 at Changi airport complete with stylish Biz Class lounge) with SQ's new Biz Class in a 1-2-1 configuration and featuring the widest seat currently available that can be flipped over into a 180 degree bed - a huge improvement on the previous one which reclined to quite a steep angle. The only annoyance was that the buttons had to be pressed down hard in order for anything to function. The tray table can still be used, but sitting up in bed with lunch in your lap makes a very awkward eating indeed so I changed it back to armchair position. As per the cabin attendant's recommendation I ordered a black pepper beef noodle dish which wasn't that appealing when it arrived - like a bad curry in fact. She and the purser were very apologetic and returned with a lamb dish instead. There is loads to keep you busy on KRISWORLD - it is very comprehensive offering with an unrivalled audio on demand selection.

SQ are not cheap, but well worth the extra bucks - even more so with a superior product such as this. I can't wait to try it out on an intercontinental sector...I have been converted !
