I was checked in and through security within 15minutes of arrival at the airport. The SAA lounge at Heathrow was busy, but drinks and snacks were in plentiful supply along with chairs/pc's/tables to use. Showers were also available, yet I chose not to use them. The boarding for the flight was smooth, and once seated cabin crew politely asked if they could take my coat for me, as well as offer me juice or champagne. (This is common practice of all airlines in Business). The catering was of very high quality, with a wide selection to choose from, and the portions were generous! Once the dinner service was finished, I was able to concentrate on getting a good night's sleep. The new business class seat is very wide and the bed is of a good length. Being provided with pillows and blanket, in the lie flat position the seat is very comfortable which allowed me to fall asleep very quickly. There were quick breakfast options for those who wanted more sleep, but the catering was, surprisingly, worth waking up for! Laptop power supply was easy and I was able to work; the tray table big enough to accommodate both my laptop and drinks. I briefly watched a short tv program from a very good selection, but did not use the IFE. I must add that SAA's new in-flight entertainment has very good selections and is all interactive. I used the arrivals lounge on arrival (intercontinental hotel premier lounge because SAA's is actually closed) and was able to grab a shower so by the time I left the airport, I felt great. Service was constantly attentive, and all crew were smiling and seemed happy to help. A seamless, stress free (as much as it can be) flight and I was very pleased once again with SAA. Their Business product is in line with BA and is very impressive. I will not hesitate to use them again. SAA's South African Hospitality make them stand out especially above BA, so if you like a warm personalised touch, go for SAA - you won't be disappointed! | ||
