Dublin – Boston – Dublin.

Arrived at the airport in Dublin three hours early as advised. Check in was a breeze. First used the check in kiosk to receive my boarding card and then proceeded to the check in desk, which was manned by very friendly check in agents.

On boarding the aircraft, we found that are reserved seat numbers were the seats by an exit row even though they didn’t display this at the time off booking, meaning we had ample legroom. This was due to the airline changing the aircraft to a larger type probably to deal with the demand, as the flight was also very full. Unfortunately our aircraft had no seat back TV screens and only random screens throughout the cabin, meaning we had no choice on what to watch. Also the food on this flight was one of the worst I have ever experienced on long haul. However credit to the cabin crew who were excellent, approachable, friendly and went out of their way for every request, which was met with a genuine smile.

On our return flight, we experience a long wait at check in, as this was done the old fashioned way. Some of the passageners at the top of the queue seemed to have problems that meant checking them in took a good 20 minutes, which resulted in the queue not moving at all.

We found our return aircraft, spotless and clean, crew just as welcoming and friendly, the entertainment as old as ever and the food just a step above our incoming flight. One thing that shocked me was that we were only served with a small fruit juice before landing. No coffee was available at 6 am.

All in all I would recommend Aer Lingus, as I specially got a fantastic deal on the ticket price. With such a cheap ticket I can’t really expect much. The low quality and slim pickings of the food on board, and next time I will remember to bring a few good books as the entertainment system is nothing to write home about. However the staff are some of the most genuine people that really enjoy helping customers, meaning I will choose this airline again.
