Taken 14 April 2008 from Barcelona (Aeropuerto Transoceanico de Barcelona) - BCN to Sevilla (San Pablo) - SVQ
Spainair has an unpublished rule that you must arrive 40 minutes before your flight to check your bags. We arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes before but stood in line for 35 minutes before we reached a counter. They refused to allow us board the flight and told us that we should have heard the announcements or go in the fast lane -- there were no announcements and my wife is fluent in Spanish. There was also no fast counter. We went to the ticket office to get new tickets. They refused to give us new tickets because they said the fair was non-refundable even though it was there fault they did not process us quickly enough. They would not refund our money. They also refused to provide us with flight information for other flights in the same area. I have traveled all over the world and flown on at least 40 different airlines and I have never experienced such shoddy customer service. Don't be tempted by the cheap fares because the same thing will happen to you. I believe they are engaging in unfair and deceptive trade practices by having this unpublished 40 minute check in rule and then making you wait in line for 35 minutes. It cost me $500 to get a new flight and I lost half a day in the airport. |
