This review represents my general impressions re. a round trip between New York (JFK) and Glasgow, UK (GLA) via Amsterdam.

I travel several times a year between the US and UK, however this was my first experience with KLM.

Relative to the other carriers I've flown from check-in to arrival the customer service on my flights was markedly superior.

Check-in was prompt and courteous. Flight attendants made you feel welcome. Smiles felt genuine and not forced! Food and beverage service was frequent. Unlike other airlines I have flown the flight attendants seemed always to be available almost to the extent it seemed there were more than the usual number of cabin crew on-board!

The Boeing 777 and Fokker aircraft used were clean and in good condition however, I found the seats in the Fokkers to be more comfortable than the 777s. A few more inches of leg room in the 777's would exponentially improved comfort. It would also improve the viewing distance of the seat-back video.

1 piece of luggage was "lost" and one of my seats was double booked but both issues were resolved in short order.

US passengers should be aware that getting seat assignments is problematical. KLM and KLM City Hopper bookings in the US are handled through KLM partner Northwest Airlines. The seems to be little convergence between their reservation systems. In the case of KLM flights seat assignments are not available without numerous phone calls and in the case of KLM City Hopper, are only assigned about 24 hours before flight time.
