Taken 17 November 1999 from Manchester, England (Ringway International Airport) - MAN to Cork - ORK

Was called home suddenly as my wife was about to give birth early! made a panic booking on the fist available flight home (1015 Cork-Dublin followed by 1430 Dublin-Manchester). Arrived at Cork airport at 0955 - and got rushed on to the flight by the excellent and helpful desk staff.

As I got off the plane at Dublin they were calling a Manchester flight from the next gate. The excellent staff at the desk in the terminal got me on the plane that was actually boarding as we landed. So I took off from Dublin less than 20 minutes after landing.

Then, they put me up in business class (with an economy ticket), gave me a coffee, offered me food and radioed ahead for my taxi (arranged by my company). On landing they escorted me off the plane first and through the airport to the taxi.

I was home by 1330 and on my way to the hospital where I made it in time for the birth.

I cannot praise the Aer Lingus staff too highly. They really put themselves out to help me. I have flown Aer Lingus several times since and they are, by some margin, my favourite airline because of their helpful attitude.

Actually, I'd give them 11 out of 10 if it were possible!
