In February I flew from Ireland West Airport - Knock to London Gatwick with XL Airways. I usually fly with Ryanair to Stansted, but I decided to try Gatwick since it was a new route from Knock. All in the total price was only 40euro, not bad for 2 people!!

I arrived early to the airport, in fact we were the first to check-in! We were told that the flight was delayed due to fog. And to be fair, after check-in, when we went upstairs to get something to eat, the fog was so bad I could hardly see the other side of the apron.

When we went through security we were informed of another delay; at this stage we were getting angry, especially since other flights were going.

Then our plane landed much earlier than expected (only a 20 minute delay), and we soon boarded. The cabin crew were very friendly on greeting us, and we found our seats. The flight was only about 65% full, so we had seats to ourselves!

I overheard one of the talkative, very friendly cabin crew tell another passenger that they had to make 2 approaches before successfully landing; that's how bad the fog was!!!

To my surprise screens came down from the overhead panels for the safety video! I didn't expect this on such a short hop from Ireland to England.

After take-off, the cabin crew started the trolley service, and we got Italian style pizzas; they were delicious, and very good quality for airline food.

We flew right over Dublin Airport and I got a brilliant view.

The seats were very comfortable, and the toilets were fresh and very clean.

We landed at Gatwick only 10 minutes late.

The crew apologised for the delay, even though it was out of their control.

I really enjoyed the flight, and will certainly travel with XL Airways again.
