We flew from Bristol to Glasgow and back for the day.

We checked in on-line for both sectors which gave us boarding group A (after the Speedy Boarders). Bristol Airport is very busy first thing in the morning for an airport of its size - around thirty departures between 6 and 9 in the morning.

The extended airside area which was recently completed has given much-needed extra space and although very crowded the departure area experience was acceptable. Likewise the extended security area with up to nine security stations has cut the security queues markedly. We were through in under fifteen minutes.

Departure on one of the eleven easyJet A319 aircraft based at Bristol was a few minutes late but we made this up and landed one minute early at 0824.

The flight was smooth and the ground was in view until Merseyside after which we entered mucky conditions and only came out a couple of miles from Glasgow Airport.

The cabin crew were fine and the flight deck gave some information, though not that much. I find the easyJet 319s to be comfortable.

We came back on the last flight of the day and the experience was much as the outbound. We were warned by the captain to expect some turbulence in the early part of the flight and we did. It did not last long though.

The clouds cleared by the time we reached the West Country and we had a superb view of the Bristol conurbation as we flew around three sides of it. We landed at 2216, four minutes early.

Slightly unusually, even in these days of sex equality, we had women first officers on both sectors.

For the money paid, £40 each for the return flights, I consider it excellent value.
