Home > Virgin Atlantic > 2008 > ReviewTaken 5 July 2008 from London, England (Gatwick Airport) - LGW to Las Vegas, NV (McCarran International Airport) - LASFirst time flying with Virgin Atlantic for a couple of years and must say how impressed I was. We were on a Virgin Holidays package so took advantage of the twilight check-in at Gatwick Airport, checking in the night before and had also purchased the amazing new lounge for virgin holidays customers at gatwick vroom. If you haven't tried it it's a MUST. It cost us 15 uk pounds per person which is really the price of two breakfasts at Gatwick airport. For this you get fast tracked through gatwick airport security to departures where you will find the vroom. Once welcomed inside the vroom by the friendly virgin hosties in their uniforms there are seperate children and adult areas so was nice to get away from all those kids heading to Orlando. Free newspapers, best view of gatwick airport from the comft seating area. We were able to help ourselves to free breakfast, lots to choose from fruit, danishes, hot sandwiches and tea and coffee. You can also buy alcohol from the bar but best to wait untl you get on bored as its all free onboard. Just enough time after eating to check my emails and have a go on the sony playzone before the kids got their hands on it. We were welcomed aboard by a lovely smart looking girl in red and a guy in black, they directed us to our seat. Once everyone was onboard the captain came on told us o our flight time and soon we were up in the air. The seats are a good pitch 32inches I think and have a personal seat back tv with lots of tv and movies to choose from. The cabin crew also told us some of the newer aircrafts they have even have a facility to pause while you weat or use the bathroom. The plane was a big jumbo 747-400in full virgin colours. It was a very busy flight, didn't see any spare seats but the crew came straight out with headsets which were free then a free amenity kit which had an eyemask, pen, toothbrush and paste which was excellent. They then came through and told us all the correct forms we would need to fill out for landing into Las Vegas and they even have a tv channel to help you complete it. Then drinks and pretzels were offered free and the crew were so friendly giving me water juice and a bloody mary. We then had the choice of three meals a chicken and rice I think, beef and potatos and a vegetrarian pasta which I had it was lovely, also yo get a GU fruit pud. They then came round with tea and coffee and topped us up. After theyd take our trays duty free was offered, then we got ice cream with our movie again free and then we got a hot wrap and they were always out offering juice and water. Finally before landing I was awoken from my free blanket and pillow to be given a little sandwich and cookie with a cup of tea, what a lovely end to a perfect flight. The return flight was just as good. A big thumbs up for Virgin. I can't wait to be welcomed onboard again soon. A true full service scheduled airline id choose over any competitor out there. Our nexts holidays to Hawaii so hopefully they fly there soon other wise we'll take them to LA then get a connection! The only reason i gave virgin a 6 for value for money is because they are the only direct airline flying from Gatwick i think if they had competition they would be cheaper but a good flight and id rather pay that little extra for all the extras they give you and no need to change in the US! | ||
