On the whole I was very impressed with Thai. From the moment we step on board, the flight attendants graciously bowed and welcomed us and this set the scene for the rest of the flight.

We flew via Bangkok in both directions which seems to be a very good airport with plenty of shops and clear transfer information.

On the international sectors we were offered a drink from the bar, then a hot meal followed by additional drinks and tea or coffee. For the domestic flights we were offered some fruit cake, OJ and tea/coffee. The legroom seemed generous on all flights, certainly better than BA in economy.

The only part that concerned me was the lack of safety checks before we landed in HKG. There was a storm passing over the airport which had caused several flights before us to divert, as such the Captain had advised the approach would be bumpy. However at no time did the cabin crew check that seat belts were fastened, the cabin lights were not dimmed for a nighttime arrival and the inflight entertainment on the PTVs was still showing. I noticed several passengers still with their earphones on. As it happened the landing was very hard, with glasses smashing in the galley, overhead bins flying open etc - this was all down to the weather though.

All in all I would fly Thai again without hesitation, it just worries me that basic safety checks were over looked especially when flying in such bad weather.
