Home > EasyJet > 2008 > ReviewTaken 5 November 2008 from London, England (Gatwick Airport) - LGW to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands (Reina Sofia-Tenerife Sur) - TFSWe were booked to take the afternoon flight down to Tenerife from Gatwick's north terminal with easyJet. Having paid extra for speedy boarding we used the quicker speedy boarding check-in desk and with minimum fuss that was the formalities over with. We took the monorail back to the south terminal which we deemed had a better selection of eateries to wait for the flight. After replenishing ourselves we made our way back to the North and though a very quiet security area into the departure lounge. Our flight came up for boarding nearly one hour early, but when we got there we knew why, it was a very long walk which took us along the sky bridge to the satelite building. easyJet were boarding an Amsterdam flight as well as the Tenerife which made the gate very busy and just made people all the more anxious to stay standing and congregationg when PA's were made to ask people for Tenerife to sit down. Even when they asked for speedy boarders to come forward we had to push though a throng of people who thought hey were speedy boarders. We boarded a very nice A320, registered G-TTOE - an ex GB Airways aircraft still bearing the British Airways blue belly with an easyJet orange tail. The crew were fantastic, with Lester and Dave being the hard working crew working at the front in our section of the cabin. Once airborne these two crew did not stop until they had to take their seats for landing. It should be noted that this aircraft and other A320's and A321's are configured with British Airways style economy seats and also they have in-flight drop down TV screens which the in-house easyJet aircraft do not and this will only stay this way during the transitory phase of the crew and fleet being fully integrated. In fact I believe easyJet will get rid of the whole GB fleet and re-equip with factory fresh A320's configured to easyJet's more minimal standards. They played the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark and also showed the moving map, which gave us a constant progress report of the flight. The service provided was really first rate, it is all paid for items and costs the same as most airport or other buy on board airlines. I can see easyJet really taking a bit of market share from the likes of Monarch who have been a long established airline on this route, IF they continue to offer this route and have the consistently high standards as shown by Lester and his team. A fantastically enjoyable flight. | ||
