Home > Aer Lingus > 2008 > ReviewTaken 10 December 2008 from Shannon, Ireland - SNN to Boston, MA (General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport) - BOSFlight EI 133 & EI 132 operated by Airbus 330-300 I booked the flights 4 months in advance on one of Aer Lingus’s “fare sale”, however I paid over €480 in total, which is expensive compared to other years I have flown to Boston. Check in at Shannon was very quick and the whole process only took a few minutes to complete. Security was also quite so I was checked in and through security within 10 minutes of arriving at the terminal. US Emigration was quick and efficient in Shannon, however there was another security check prior to boarding, which is annoying as I had just cleared security 20 minutes before hand. Boarding was quick and easy, and we were welcomed abroad by the crew. Despite Aer Lingus being a low fares airline, the crews are still very welcoming and polite. The aircraft that was advised when I booked was the newer A330-200 aircraft; however the flight was operated by an older larger A330-300, with the TV monitors every couple of rows as opposed individual TV screens. On the plus side, this meant there were more seats on the plane so people were able to spread out. I had a row of two seats to myself. Soon after takeoff, the crew came around with the bar service, and there is a small charge for alcoholic drinks. I bought a bottle of wine for the dinner, which was €5. The in-flight entertainment was then started; it was not a bad choice of movies or programs on the flight. Dinner was served with an option of chicken or beef; I opted for the chicken option, the size of the meal looks like it has been declining with only a salad, bread roll, the chicken and an oat meal cookie. The meal was okay for airline food. The approach was great as the flight passed over the city and then back track to the airport, as it was a clear day it was a great view of the city. The flight landed ahead of time in Boston. Overall a very enjoyable flight. The return flight was similar experience, I checked in at the airport, which was very quick and efficient. I was able to get an exit row window seat for the return flight home, which is great as it allowed me to get some sleep on the flight. The flight departed on time for Logan, and took off over the city, which gave a great view of Boston at night. The meal was served about 2 hours into the flight, again the choice was chicken or beef, but the meal was slightly better than the outbound flight. After the meal I was able to catch some sleep, and the exit rows gives you lots of extra room. Landed ahead of schedule in Shannon, and the baggage arrived within a few minutes of arriving at the baggage belt. Overall two very good flights by Aer Lingus, crew on both flights were excellent; the flights were a bit on expensive side, but overall two enjoyable flights. | ||
